Speaking about Ubisoft's new "always on" DRM, analyst Nicholas Lovell, founder of Gamesbrief.com, say that pirates now have the upper hand when it comes to having the better gaming experience.
Lovell criticizes Ubisoft's approach and contrasts it with market leaders Steam, and called Ubisoft's system "draconian".
And when asked what he would do to combat piracy, Lovell has some interesting ideas. "Give the whole game away entirely for free, make it small and charge for DLC," was one of Lovell's ideas, and he also says that piracy can help reduce marketing budgets by spreading word quickly about how good a game is, and then this can be used to entice users to pay for DLCs and additional content.
