Microsoft confirms Kinect pricing, new bundles

Microsoft has confirmed the pricing of the Kinect accessory. It appears retailers were right in guessing the price of $149.99, because this is exactly the price for the full body motion sensing camera accessory. However, what retailers didn't anticipate (Walmart especially) was that the price also includes Kinect Adventures, one of the more interesting games that will be available at launch. Kinect Adventures is available separately for $49.99.

Microsoft also announced a new Xbox 360 Arcade "Slim", based on the same form factor as the recently introduced "slim" 250GB S model, comes with 4GB of storage (instead of the 250GB HDD), but is priced at $100 less. The Slim Arcade also has built-in Wi-Fi, and appears identical to the 250GB except for the HDD and lack of a bundled wired headset (probably).

There is also a Xbox 360 4GB Kinect bundle, which bundles the new Arcade (don't know if Microsoft is still going to use this term to refer to the 4GB console, probably not as Microsoft has stopped using Elite to describe the more expensive version) with the Kinect bundle (so Kinect + Kinect Adventures) for $299.99, saving you $50 off the price of purchasing both together. This means that a Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect and one game will cost the same as the cheapest PS3 Slim. There's no word of an 250GB/Kinect bundle yet.

Kinect's release date is the 4th of November, the same time as the Xbox 360 4GB + Kinect bundle (obviously). The new Xbox 360 4GB arrives in stores August 3rd.
