Kaleidescape Blu-ray streamer gets around legal problem

Kaleidescape has always championed the ability to access all your movies without having to swap discs. In the past, they did it by copying movies to digital storage, which unfortunately got Hollywood angry enough to sue.

But with a lot of people now using Blu-ray, Kaleidescape has updated their media server to support the new HD format, but also did it in a way to avoid the wrath of Hollywood.

Instead of digital storage, Kaleidescape will use a 300 disc carousel system to allow users to quickly access the movie they want. The movie can then be streamed to players located elsewhere via your home network. Price starts at $1,500 for a version which connects to an existing M300 player, to a $6,000 standalone version that simply needs access to your home network (although I believe you'll still need to have Kaleidescape players, purchased separately, connected to your TV).
