Netflix has broken its own record in terms of the number of hours of streaming content delivered in a month - over 1 billion hours of entertainment was streamed to subscribers in June alone.
This also makes Netflix 7th when compared to major US broadcast and cable networks in terms of content delivered, and second place when counting only cable networks.
The milestone, posted on Netflix's Facebook page, means that on average, each subscriber watched more than 40 hours of content per month, or 80 minutes per day.
"Congrats to Ted Sarandos and his amazing content licensing team," Netflix CEO Reed Hastings posted on Facebook. "When 'House of Cards' and 'Arrested Development' debut, we'll blow these records away. Keep going, Ted, we need even more!"
The 'House of Cards' and 'Arrested Development' reference made by Hastings refers to Netflix's new strategy of making exclusive and original content available to subscribers, something that's expected to boost the hours viewed figure even more when the exclusive shows debut in 2013.
