Xbox One Has Day One Million Unit Sales Like PS4, And Also Has Hardware Problems

Microsoft has revealed that their Xbox One console has sold more than a million units in less than 24 hours, matching the sales figures for Sony's PS4, which was released last week.

Sony's figures are a little bit more impressive given that the console was only available for sale in North America, whereas the Xbox One was launched simultaneously in 13 markets, including North America, the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

The sales figures greatly eclipsed the launch results for Microsoft's previous console, the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 shipped 326,000 units in North America in November, having been released on the 22nd.

Microsoft also revealed that during the first day of game play, gamers killed over 60 million zombies in Dead Rising 3 and drove more than 3.6 million miles on Forza Motorsport 5.

However, just like the PS4 launch, some users have reported hardware problems with the console. Some users have reported a grinding noise coming out of the disc drive when trying to play games. Microsoft have confirmed that the problem only exists for a very small number of Xbox One consoles. To avoid further hindrance, the Redmond based company is offering advanced returns for affected consoles, whereby a replacement will be sent out immediately without having to wait for the faulty console to return to Microsoft.
