RUNE Game (PC Version) Sound Card Troubleshooting

I couldn't find another place to put this so I decided to put it here...(it's sort of related, and kinda not... )

I was trying to play this game on my computer but couldn't because my system does not have anything but an SiS 7018 Audio Driver I was wondering what sound card do I need to play the game? The error said something about a UGalaxy Audio Subsystem too....

Also I noticed when it didn't function properly a message would pop-up that it was not shut down properly and could run in safe mode... I then disabled the 3D sound (and all sound for that matter), then set it to play in non-fullscreen...then told the game to run...sometimes it runs, sometimes it doesn't... any advice would be helpful.

Is that game some kind of DOS version and you are trying to run it in a NT environment (WinNT, 2K, XP)? Have you successfully run the game without sound?

yes, I have successfully run the game without sound ( in Win 9x), but it does not work every time (I don't know why ) Each time I run the game in safe mode I always check to see if the settings for no sound are correct. Not to mention that I have to continuously run it in safe mode because I can't seem to put the no 3D audio as a default setting.

Just to put things into perspective, how old is the game? And how recent is your system? I've had trouble running a few old DOS and Win9x games with my system as well.
