In terms of what? Performance of High/Mid/budget-end models? Value? Picture quality (2D and/or 3D)? Availability? Etc, etc, etc...

And finally, need you start this kind of question? It is going to spark debates amongst fans of both camps, consequences of which you can easily imagine.

Its rumoured that the GeForce 5 will be coming out with a all-new chipset that is suppose to kick ATI's ass.

Does anybody, know any of the details/spec's?

Unlucky gd_nimrod. But thats normal for computers i.e. your computer being out-of-date within 6-12 months.

However if you brought yuor GeForce4 for games, then it will more than enough.

Also Doom3 is meant to be compatable with GeForce5, so if you want the most out of Doom3 you will have to purchase a GeForce5. But Doom3 is gonna come out (hopefully) in just under a year. So start saving now

Just to give you more specifics I want to know who is best all-around.

The reason I was asking is because I have to get a new card here pretty soon. I am still working off of a Geforce2 MX/MX 400 and I either want a ATI radeon 9000 series all-in-wonder or a Geforce 4 or 5 if they come out soon enough.

I prefer ATI cards, they offer better quality in my opinion for gaming, and tv-out.

There is only one way to choose:
                1. Ask yourself how much you are prepared to spend.
                2. Ask yourself what do you want the card to do.
When you've reached those conclusions start hunting out the specs of all the cards that fit into your budget and buy the one best suited to your needs.
Don't expect to get the same performance from (say) an ATI9600Pro and an ATI9600AIW, okay they're from the same stable but they perform different functions and the TV/VIVO cards the slower horses in the stable. There's no point in hanging about. ATI and nVidia are on a helter-skelter; they leap-frog each other almost on a monthly basis so the card you buy tomorrow, will be superceded by a better one next week and will probably be obsolete within two to three months.
Why wait - you're a long time dead.
Genius creates what it must; talent creates what it can.

Between a GF2 MX (or even the GF4 MX) and Radeon9000?

It's a no brainer. The Radeon 9000 takes the crown.

You mean like the FX did?

This forum is gonna be a bit biased

I'm thinking most people here are going to prefer ATi. IMO ATi is a better card; it's more versatile and offers better quality. As far as being outdated, don't listen to them. I'm on a radeon 7500 and I can run anything on the market today (a pretty old card mind you).

If you're strapped for cash a 9500 would be a great card to have (as you can unlock it to a 9700 ), given you get the right one.

As far as pure power is concerned, all the new cards have plenty of power to make anyone happy, so those comparisons are useless (besides the fact that they are never released at the same time which in itself is enough reason not to argue).

And yes, starting debates like this is pointless

Looks like members of this board are split: 50-50. Not a great way to make a decision.

You might as well flip a coin
