SKD_Tech if you are the occasional gamer and want an all purpose card then i suggest you get the Radian 9700 Pro as it has the best "has the best price/performance ratio".

However, if on the other hand you are a hardcore gamer and all you are concerned about is playing the best games of 2003, considering you have the money get the GeFroce 5800 Pro.

Also i suggest you look at Tom's Hardware Forum

I have backed up my arguments with facts. If there is anyone who wishes to counter me, present me with one or more solid proof.

If SKD_Tech does not play that much really, the Radeon 9500 Pro or even the Radeon 9000 Pro will suffice. It all depends on the budget and needs.

        Or the Radeon 9800 Pro.

As much as it hurts me deep down inside, I'm gonna refrain.

BTW skd, if you feel the need to blow needless amount of money on -THE- top of the line card, go for it. However realize this: all of the games coming out are gonna really tax video cards; it would be best to upgrade when a game you really like comes out, as to get the best bang for your buck at the time. Get something decent to just hold you off before busting out the big guns, unless you're content with your current card.

My 7500 can run anything out on the market right now with decent frames, there's no need to "hope the 9800 [will] do it".

I spent nearly $AUD 1000 ($USD 600) on my GeForce2 Ultra, and now it barely runs FIFA 2003 at 640x480

And FIFA 2004 is coming out soon

t3ch's right. There's no point in getting the most expensive graphics card at the time to make your system future proof - most likely, the card is already outdated (and underpowered) compared to the games that will be released in a very short while.

And also note that CPUs are very likely your source of bottleneck, and that with the fastest graphics card, you will only get the best out of it with the latest CPUs.

There is probably a card out there right now that has the best performance VS cost ratio - reading reviews (eg. from Tom's Hardware, Anandtech ...) will help.

              nice sites enchanter

now would you pay $1000 for a card just slightly better than a $300 card that works the best compared to all the other cards out there except for that ati card...?

chicken, you need to get new pricing resources.

You seem to be going to www.NvidiaReallyCheapAndAtiReallyExpensive.com, which isn't a good place for comparison

                      To SKD_Tech

Well it looks as if you've got a lot of thinking to do bearing in mind the number of responses generated by your original post. Guess you'll let us know what card you DO eventually buy. . . with all that 'bread' you're earning working all those long, week-end hours.
                      All the best.

Yes, do let us know what card you decide to buy. Let me remind you again that you should choose the card that suits your budget and needs.

                        and

@chickeneater, if you want to counter my points, please do so with solid proof and facts. I have done so and I expect the same in return of anyone who is in for an argument.

And regarding your $300 nVidia GeforceFX 5800 card vs. $1000 ATI Radeon 9800 card, care to give me a site that can possibly have this kind of contrasting price?

                        Can you?

                        No, I don't think so.

Because there is no such site.

You are imagining the prices yourself, nVidia boy.
