    Damn Messenger Pop-Ups

OK, ever since i re-installed windows xp i keep getting those infamous messenger pop-ups about every 5 minutes....so after a whole night i have to click "OK" about 200 times before i get some work done...

Now, i dont remember how i got rid of them last time, so if someone would be nice enough as to tell me how or point me to a site?

Hi, yeah what you have to do is:

Go to Control Panel, then click on Administrative Tools, then click on Services, then, on the list, find the entry that says "Messenger", (the list is in alphabetical order) then when you find it, right click it, then click properties, first click stop, (so you will stop the process, then under Startup Type switch it to Disabled.

      There you go, all set!

Well, if you follow those instructions, make sure you also disable it, and not just stop it, (so it won't startup ever again once you restart your computer)

Boot from a floppy disk and type:
          Format C:\

And say yes when prompted, and no more annoying messages.

Honestly.. I recently am inundated with Spam from MSN when I am using Trillian. Aparantly they assume I am running an insecure version of MSN Messenger (Who wrote it to be insecure in the first place??), and keep messaging me to upgrade it. Damned annoying. I hate MSN Messenger. It sucks.

When I think of it, Microsoft in general is annoying. They never think of these things, and people like yourselves are left with the "Sledge hammer to computer" solution.
Government throws more money at a problem, so it looks like they are making a difference.

there are a lot of instructions on how to handle MSN messenger
              or similar.......on www.tweakxp.com go there
and you find guides to keep it or delete it or just to suppress
              popups....

              good luck!!

wish is redundant wish because you surley find a solution there.
