I had a client who did 12 years for 1/2 ounce of weed. That is the truth. Like I said anywho who hurts someone else should be locked up. It is a good thing cigarettes aren't illegal. I wonder how many more people would be locked up. I never heard of anyone dying fron marijuana induced lung cancer but my best friend died a year ago from lung cancer from his cigarette habit. When a cigarette smoker dies, if he is anyperson of consequence, he will leave a lot of people hurt for his or her own self centered indulgence. There is really not much different between the two, just the legality, and the money behind cigarettes. I lived in Cherry Hill N.J. for a few years. I knew a lot of people who had the routing of going into Camden for their drugs. They were accomplices and should be jail as such.

I agree with what toomanycats said in his last post except that it's a bad thing that cigarettes are not illegal and maybe the fear of going to jail and being in a cell with "big bubba",and of course the skyrocketing price would stop me and many others from smoking. And the country would lose billions generated from the taxes on them. Cigarettes are over $53 a carton in Jersey, over $45 a carton in Philly but only $27 a carton in Delaware.

I don't know of any pothead that smoked 30 - 60 joints a day... for any extended time anyway. If and when I die of cancer, I know it will hurt the family but I know that in the beginning I made the choice to smoke cigarettes and all these years have continued for whatever reason. I'm not selfindulgent, I'm just hooked like the junkies and alcholics. I have a 2 1/2 year old grandson and have been trying to use him as a reason to stop but have had no success so far.

As with Chapelle and all others that got to jail for something they did and people like me who continue to smoke "If we wanna play, we gotta pay"

@jm - I know how hard it is to give up - no matter how hard I try to get my elder kids and my fiancee to stop, they won't or can't.

I guess by the pricing, smokes are more important to people than gasoline or water!

blutach With me it's not won't but ...oooh I hate to say this word...can't stop. People that never smoked or got so sick the firat time the tried it oughta thank somebody. I remember coughing, head spinning and thought I was gonna puke.

setarip - ....if ya remember years ago Hustler magazine had pictures of healthy lungs and cancerous lungs in the magazine to try and get people to try and stop. I had it taped to the inside of the top of my tool box when I was on the tools and pinned it up in my cubicle when I moved on. That didn't work and I seen it for hours a day.
