    If you are publishing in an HTML page, you can also type ± to get ±. Typing alt-0177 could cause problems if the character set of the webpage is set to output in UTF-8 (if the page is not in UTF-8, I think).

    There is also © for the ©, ® for ® (make sure you type in the ending ; to use these on the forum).
