making a backup of doom 3 (pc)

i posted a thread similar to this but i am confused on how to make a backup of doom 3 i looked on afterdawn and gamecopyworld but i'm still confused can soemone help me.

Hi alienfinder,

I have doom3 also and needed to make a backup.
I used Clone CD to make a disc image which I then mount with daemon tools.

You can use the demo version to do this.

I did have to un install clone cd before the disc image would work,I got an error message from doom3 saying "disc emulation software detected" or something like that.

but the disc image does now work for me,no need to load the cd at all.

i've done it, but i forgot how i did it, and i haven't played it in ages.

try dvd decrypter first (in iso read mode to make an iso, then iso 'write' to burn), its usually my first option.

if no go, try this:

download 'clonyxxl', which will tell you the type of protection the disc has on it. post which protection it has.

@blu: doesn't this go in the 'general computing' forum? or 'dvd backup'
even if its a game, its still a dvd

If all else fails, read the Daemon tools help file. Lots of good info about backing up games with various copy protection schemes in there.

@blu: no need to bother the mods, just wondering whether 'dvd backup' is strictly for video related stuff

Put it this way - if it was posted there to begin with and I was a mod in the relevant backup forum, I wouldn't move it here.

My copy of doom3 is on 3 cd's. AFAIK they didn't sell the dvd version here.

Same here. I did see a guide somewhere for joining all three cd's onto a dvd-r.

My family has a blast playing this game on my home network.

i have the dvd version, so i don't think it would help even if i did remember my method

ok i've made backups they have all been installed but it says this when i try to play

it means you need to disable virtual drive/emulation tools, like 'daemon tools', which i know you have installed. also clonecd as well i believe...

what did you use for the backup?
clone cd?

if you used clone cd,like I did,you may have to un install it,as I said in my earlier post, for the game to work.

I am using daemon tools to play the game,so I dont think you have to uninstall that.
