I quit counting around 450, just keeping them alphatized and inventoried
is a major hassle. Soon as I update my spreadsheet and transfer to word
in 3 column format, I cull some and add some and here we go again.
i convert mine all to xvid, place them on the HTPC, (total ~900GB hard disk space) and play them on my main dispay.
i access them by way of creating an excel spreadsheet/ms access database, which contains the name, rating (my own/household rating, out of 10), category and celebrities. i then make a large html file, which also contains length & cover art. i acces the movies from that file, it seems like a long process, but all xvid files are named a similar way, it makes it very easy to set the paths
i can then search the movie, or sort by rating, category etc.
i'm around 550 so far. about 30 or so are VCD's. so i guess i'm not quite a nut yet i have a word document i update when needed, print it out in a duotang periodically, along with episode guides for a few TV shows that i get from episode guides.com---very basic, very simple.

Use excel to store on your computer as a spreadsheet so movies can be sorted alphabetically as you add to it, then copy into word and select 2 or 3 columns for a printout.
