I count boxsets by the number of discs inside. I have many TV series and most seasons have 6 or 7 discs. Counting that way, I have well over 1000 DVD's. I stopped counting at 1000. It is probably be near 1500 by now. I started early 1999.
I have run out of room so I got some mutli disc cases that will store up to 8 DVD's in each one. I use them for my TV series DVD's. It does mean I can use good looking custom cases.
Hmmm. I probably have around 100, but I didn't count. We just got a DVD player a couple of years ago, so we are still "behind". At least I got Revenge of the Sith on DVD! (The saga is complete!)
I've got about 350 now, I reckon. Last year, I got one of those large wallets that hold just the discs, 320 of them, and dumped all the individual plastic cases (except for special editions). But now that wallet is filled, so I am working on the second one. Makes it easier to move them around. I have no filing system, but know for the most part what I have and flip through the wallet to retrieve what I want. For most of my viewing needs, I have XviD copies to watch via PC-VGA on a TV and the wallet is mainly for storage.

Use excel to store on your computer as a spreadsheet so movies can be sorted alphabetically as you add to it, then copy into word and select 2 or 3 columns for a printout.
I am not too knowledable with using exel, is their a way to auto alphebetize them? I do it manually but is there a way to select them all and have it do it automatically?

The best thing for trees is a bloody big axe! Works for stupidity too!! You have a problem? Search the forums, you 'aint the first person to have your problem thats for sure!! There's a bloke called Blutach here somewhere, check out his signature. Loads of useful info in it! .
i can explain why:
i only buy and encode 2 types of dvds for myself, musicals or like Star wars/Indiana jones.
for my kid i have D.pixar(toy story,bugs life) shrek,some more Disney's(goofy,dalmatians)etc.
i like a few movies like Matrix and some others goods but i can't see this movies 20 times but Led Zep,Rush,Beatles, i can see thousands times.
then,my collection is so short.
and you all are crazy(smoke marijuana?) with this large numbers of originals and backups!

Some films I can watch over and over. I have seen Star Wars Episode IV well over 100 times (over 20 years or so). Other films I have watched lots of is T2, Matrix, Kill Bill and most other famous sci fi films (I like my Sci Fi)
I can't watch TV series broadcast live anymore. I prefer to get them on DVD. Things like adverts every 10 minutes annoy me and the episodes can be edited to make them fit the schedules.
If there are any series that I don't want to buy but watch later on. I have DVD/hard disk recorder to timeslip on.

i agree there. actually i find this true with anything on tv. tv annoys me. can't beat a dvd. i also have many movies i've seen over and over and will continue to do so!
