My main pc is AMD Athlon XP 2000. My older PC is a PIII 500.

I would like a new PC and would want AMD again, probably AMD 64 X2.

Intel is hanging in there, only losing by 2.

glad somebody other than chewy, uncas and i read them. intel's dual core chips are cheaper, but you get what you pay for

they have much higher power consumption than athlon x2, even when idle. they are slow(er). they run much hotter, so likely won't last as long.

Personally If I had the equipment I would like to do that with DvdD and ImgBurn.

I am not sure you get what you pay for with intel
                    the d 820 1/8 slower than anony's
"runs hot, like everyone says, id get a new cpu cooler for sure if you plan to use this badboy hardcore. Arctic silver 5 is also a must"
                    1/4 cheaper
put that cpu in the downunder heat and it's toast!

take my 135$ cpu amd 64/3000 venice, and oc to amd 64/3800
and I'm <20% slower at half the price, and running cooler.

                          Oldie but goodie

                          AMD XP 1800

Serving me well. Next cpu upgrade will have to be dual core though.

Well considering that AMD makes chips for Intel, I prefer the AMD.
