I work for a biomedical company as an Operations and Applications Specialist. Basically I troubleshoot our medical software and computer hardware over the phone.

So you're one of those tech support people?
Do you talk with an accent and rely on the guides to help you?
No offense, just seems like all telephone support people these days are located in India or somewhere around there and the only knowledge they have is what's in the book in front of them.
For example, when I called Linksys to ask about why my DS couldn't connect to the Internet, they just blew me off... and when I called Nintendo they knew more than Linksys about a Linksys router... that's just sad.CYA Later:

Yeah I talk with an accent. This sweet lass said I sound like a Yank (California born and raised).. LOL As for the accent bit, I've called Symantec on an issue and got someone from India. I upgraded my PC (Mobo, CPU, Burner) formatted the HD and reinstalled XP.... you got it.... had to phone Mickysoft for a product activation and talked to someone from India. Talk about outsourcing. The tech for Symantec didn't have a good grasp of English and I had to ask him to repeat himself several times. The woman for M$ had the accent but was well articulated and understood perfectly what I was asking.
As far as manuals go, I don't need them :smile I play with our product line all day so I know all the ins and outs.

Hey Mill, my very first job when I left school was as a stainless steel Tig welder. We used to make pressure vessels for water heating, bulk tanks for milk storage and germ breeding containers for the Ministry of defence!!!

Well I was a class A polisher / Grinder ( Skilled trades) then do to down sizing I lost my good job. Took a job in the Spalding call center they too have downsized. So I just dont know what I will do again. many offers in the skilled traded but I want out of that life. We will just have to see.Comment
