I haven't had a Intel for years (not including my laptop). Do they get hot now then? My last pentium was a PIII.

The tempertures on the front are a bit misleading. The hard disk temperture is accurate but the cpu is out by about 5 C when idle. When under load the tempeture in Everest is around 40 C but the sensor reads around 33 C. It doesn't need to be accurate. I will use it to monitor how much the temp goes up. If it went up to say 50 C then that is a big jump and will need to be looked at.

The next time I have the lid off. I will reposition the cpu sensor.

My curent temps in Everest (just surfing the net). The front sensors are showing CPU 27 C and HD 28 C.

Intel has been lazy since gutting the P4 to keep up with AMD and just kept applying quick fixes to their line and ramping up the core frequency and adding more L2, their power consumption and heat production almost double amd's.

put a 120mm fan in the back of that case and it'll even be cooler
