Yeah, the bolts are too long to come out. Theres a few tricks the GM engineers like to throw at us. Someday I'd like to meet one.

I'm not implying I would harm them, but I'm also not saying I wouldn't.

major experince today. i was working on an "N" body. GM technicians will know this could be a grand am for one. (this was an 02)i was replacing the front lower vertical control arm bushings (the ones that always fail) just like on the sunfires. i managed to do it, but had to resort to the local GM dealer to take the LOOSE control arms that i removed to press out, and press in the new bushings. i got everything together perfect of course. what i'd like to know is if anyone has the PART# of the ball joint press/bushing tool that does these j/n body GM cars. several technicians here at DVF i know, and someone must know of it? if not, what do you use? my associate had to pay an extra $80 today. that's unacceptable and makes me look bad. with the right tool i can do it in less than 5 min, but i don't recall the #, so it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. the job must be done right. i've heard of hacks that use a big hammer and air hammer, but that's just butchery. procedures like that gave birth the name "grease monkey"

so being forced....like i said, yesterday i arranged the loose parts to be brought in to the dealership and the new parts to be replaced on the bench, the service manager screwed us big time by charging $80, when i specifically decribed i'd be bringing in the arms LOOSE to have the bushings replaced ON THE BENCH. he quoted $30 initially. naturally i know these service advisors are trained liars (the service manager will be getting a nice call from me tommorow). i'd like to not have the need for this anymore. rent-a-tool locations here all had the tool out, and they don't know the number. just high school kids.

in summation, to j/n body control arm bushing replacers, what tool/method do use? i called everywhere today, everyone here is useless!

                ben, tuco?
