What is sad about that picture is I know like 5 people that have cats that fat! They have to feed a 1/4 cup no more no less to theirs cats each day to take the weight off.
My cat on the other hand has a 3lb feeder, he eats when he wants and he never gets fat. He runs up and down the stairs all night long though.
Science Diet makes a diet food for dogs that is mostly all fiber, really takes the pounds off quick. You have to get it through a vet tho, they consider it to be a prescription diet. They probably make it for cats too. It's really unhealthy for pets to be overweight. Hard on their bones and joints.

I agree with ya there! They cant run, jump and play like they should when they are that size. My cat can jump right over the sofa its almost like he is flying. He is so active I dont think he will ever get fat. Burns off a lot. Plays hard.
Just like people, they not only need to diet, but you need to get them to exercise too.
My Maine Coon is 24 lbs. She's supposed to be big, but I have a screened-in lanai, so I toss her out there for an hour or so each day. She gets to chase birds and squirrels, but she can't get out. Gonna miss this house!
Not to bring back a thread from almost a year ago but we just got a puppy and I want to share some pics! He is 8 weeks old a Shih Tzu/Pommeranian cross named Leo named after this guy here....

He is so cute! Awwwww! I wish I could have a dog.
But I am starting a new job and one of my co-workers is a golden retriever.
So dog at work and cat at home. LOL
I am just wondering why you decided to name him after Leo Laporte?
Well we couldn't agree on a name and we watch Call For Help everyday, even my 8y/o step daughter likes it and we just kinda went 'Hey, lets call him Leo" and it just stuck!
The dog just cracks me up when he trys to run around on the floor, we have laminate flooring throught the main level of the house and he will start slow, pick up some speed and then wipe out..he ends up kinda running sideways. We are working on getting him paper trained right now..we put him into a cardboard box that he can't climb out of..I feel so bad when he whines to get out..but he is learning that he can't come out until he goes..

Since this is the pet thread there is something that has come to my attention.
I have not been watching the news for the past few days so I had no idea this was going on. When my aunt came over today she was freaking out asking me if I had checked the web sites for my Kitty's food.
It seems there are a LOT of DOG and CAT foods in the USA and CANADA that are contaminated and KILLING DOGS and CATS. Animals have already Died with Kidney failure due to this contamination of the foods. If you are in the USA or CANADA and you have a cat or dog or both Please check this site out and make sure your food supply is safe to feed your pets with.
I found I have 17 pouches of food that was recalled! THANK GOD my cat doesn’t like it. AND NEVER ate it. I bought a pack of 18 - IAMS pouches back at Christmas to treat my cat to something "good" he didn’t like it and I was going to give it to a friend THANK GOD I have not seen this friend since I bought this stuff. Scary stuff!!
This seems to be a problem primarily with the “wet” foods both can and foil pouches!
There are some 50 brands of Dog food and some 40 brands of cat food affected by this contamination. The cause is yet unknown at this time.

Thank you for the info PA, we had seen something about this but couldn't find out if the Iams we were using was on the list so we switched just to be on the safe side!
I have fed my dogs and now a new puppy pedigree, that we are training for the mother in law. But that is another story. We have used pedigree for over 10 years and never had a problem. I thank god for that. My avatar is my dog Thor.

If you guys want to check the quality of your dog food, check this out. It will grade the food you are feeding your pups. And it doesn't matter whether you have a Mastiff or a Yorkie. I had been using Eukanuba when I first got Molly, but after seeing this, I switched her to NutroMax. Now she is on Kirkland as I can feed her adult food now.
