Petrol prices in the US are begining to scare you guys and they are still cheaper than ours !!!
Do they list the taxes per liter on your pumps? I'd love to see what kind of taxes they're adding to make gas in your country so expensive.
Edit: I just found a web site that talks about the amount of taxes charged for the sale of petrol. Talk about being screwed. We here in the states have it easy with the lack of a Value Added Tax being taxed on to the fuel tax. ...Shudder...

Petrol companies only make about 1p per litre profit. The rest is research and development etc but most is tax. It is currently at about 70% of the price at the pump. I am currently getting about £4.30 per gallon and over £3 is tax.
They only list the litre and maybe the gallon price.
Well gas went down to $2.59 a gallon here, but it still costs around $100 to fill up my truck.
PA, I won't mention the price of gas when I first started driving, but let's say that $5.00 would fill the tank. Now $5.00 won't even fill the lawn mower.
Back down to $2.74 after work today. So in 24 hours it went up 24 cents, and back down 15 cents. That's what I think is crazy! You know the gas is the same gas they've had in their tanks the whole time! Bullshirt!

I did have a look. There is only four stations near me anyway. I find the closest one the cheapest which is only a mile away.
Ah ok - I have quite a few near me so set it to 5 mile radius of home and also work and get a selection of about 16 garages ! Sounds like it's expensive round you tho Unleaded is ave 91.9p and diesel is 94.9p litre for me...

At our pumps here in the states, what we see on the pump is what we pay. It includes all local, state and federal taxes. But at some stations they will have a plaque or poster on a poll near the pumps that break down the typical tax per gallon. As with you, the stations make pennies (about six cents here) per gallon sold. Sad part is, the part of California I live in has a few refineries that produce the petrol, but we still pay an arm and leg for "Transportation" fees.
Now I seem to remember seeing this guy on a news show talking about his engine conversion that he mixed something with water that made it milky-white and it ran his engine just as good as gasoline. And he put a white rag over his exhaust to show it didn't put anything bad out. Too bad his secret recipe was bought up by the oil companies!

The average for me is 97.9 for unleaded and diesel is 99.9p. I remember diesel used to be about 30-40p less than unleaded. It isn't anymore.
Yeah that was before motorists realised that diesels give better mpg than unleaded cars and started buying more diesels than previously. The fuel Co's and the govt quickly cottoned on and raised the taxes/prices and in one swoop buggered the UK haulage businesses as well......

Guess I will go get a car that runs on vege. oil and c what they think of that. lol. When we refuse 2 buy gas anymore they will drop gas prices. One town already has.
You can buy cars here that run on LPG (Liquid Propane Gas) the price per litres is 50% that of the other fuels. However to have you car converted post sale costs £000's and my concern is that the Govt will tax that to the hilt once it becomes popular too !

Highest prices in a while around here. Just went up to $3.09 today!!
Just raised it before the 4th weekend and to add insult to injury that raised it another dime today. It would be a little cheaper if IL didn't have their ridiculous gas tax!! I'm getting tired of from the oil companies.
