    The iPhone

looks amazing, seems to be entirely touch-screen operated... i want one!

in addition to the web browsing, music, video, phone, etc

    The iPhone has three sensors:

    * A proximity sensor; when the iPhone is brought to one's ear the display shuts off and the touchscreen shuts down. This is to save battery and to stop the features being accidentally activated by the user's ear.
    * An ambient light sensor which adjusts brightness and saves power.
    * An accelerometer, which senses the orientation of the phone and changes the screen accordingly.
    very slick!

This invention will become popular soon it hits the market. I am surprised of iPhone's features! I'm not a fan of apple but this is an impression to me that Apple made a new feature that no other phones have.

Call me old fashioned, but I just don't go in for all the gizmos & dodads they can stuff into a cell phone these days. If they could just invent one that holds a good signal, I would be happy. (Not to mention the "rip off" $29.95 plan that somehow turns into $45.00 because of all the service fees, interconnect charge, etc. etc.,...)

I prefer the "Kiss" approach. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

And then, there's nothing like watching TV on a 3 1/2" screen

      ...everyone has different tastes...

I am with you there katzdvd,

My cell phone has wireless web, camera, instant messeging, e-mailig, text messeging and all that crap. I dont use that stuff though.

My plan is $35.00 per month I just use the phone and the ringers that are on the phone. I dont download anything to it and I dont pay the extra $15.00 for wireless web.

There are a lot of hidden charges in that web crap. I just use it as a phone.

Some times I use the camera but since I dont pay for the web I cant upload the pics so I just use them as screen savers for my phone.

camera phones dont take the best pics any ways LOL

iphone may turn out to be another typical apple product - good looks but poor quality/reliability

One thing though Cisco systems is suing Apple over the product name due to that they have the rights to the name. Read this in an AP news report.

It does look nice, but I would not use half of the features of the phone.

Apple stuff looks cool but sucks if you really look at it long enough.

However, maybe if I got one of these for free I might use it?

you need at least 50 posts to start a thread in the off-topic subforum

start one in general discussions if you wish, i'll move it afterwards

I just got a new Motorola v325i phone, it's a really cool phone, definately better than the iPhone as far as I can see (only problem is it won't take mp3s as ringtones, you have to use GSM codec which is only 13kbps and mono)

I mean better as in more for your money, of course mine was only $80 or so, the iPhone is decent, but again, if you want a portable multimedia device, get a tablet PC
