I am looking at buying a new home theater (dvd 5.1 etc)...but dont' know what I am going to get...if I should just go with a home theater in a box set or go with separate components...gotta go to best buy and look around

I don't care to much for the box sets,I prefer to pick out stuff piece by piece .I feel you can get a better listening experience by doing so

the only problem I have with doing that is I don't have the expertise needed to know what is good and what isn't...and I just don't trust the sales people...

The problem with Best Buy is, while they sell some top end brands, they sell the low end of the product segment....but they are starting to get a little better. If you have a high end store near you I'd check them out, something like Tweeters or Crutchfield. I'm downgrading right now because my entertainment center isn't deep enough to house my old receiver and CD changer. I'm looking at the Harmon Kardon receiver right now. Has more power and more possibilities than my old $1000 Yamaha, yet it's smaller and much cheaper.
