Attach Resume in email; more than one format?

Question about emailing a resume to potential future employer(s). Since there are several different formats/viewers these days, & not everyone uses the same software, would it be acceptable to attach a resume in more than one format, or would that be considered a bad thing to do?

    Thanks, katz

I would assume most people have Word, and that attaching a .doc would be fine. (Most companies have word processors for their employees anyway, so it only makes sense)

Don't take my word for it though, I'm still in school

Yeah, I did know that, but I was thinking since I am using linux, I am using the openoffice pgm., & created the resume with that. Openoffice will open word docs., but I don't know if word will open openoffice docs.

        i'd use nothing but PDF

using word isn't a good idea imho as the addressee will need to have word installed as well - which many user will have

but in addtition to havin word installed you will have to use standard type fonts or otherwise your addressee will see a different result.

DOC isn't a decent format for this task - save to pdf and you'll be on the safe side.
in case you don't have any pdf maker software: download and install OpenOffice
