To the left of the textbox, where you type your message, there is a box full of them, click 'Get more' to see all 50 of them. Next to each smilie the is a text code, when you type this code in the message the smilie will apper instead

Try clicking the quote button on this message, you will then be able to see, the codes I used in this message
