They were stuffy, so was Brennan's. But the Brennan family was/is a bit snobby.
My hubby was in the hotel business, so he knew all the right people in the right places. We never waited for a table.

One of my hubby's and my favorite thing to do was walk over to Copeland's on Napoleon. We lived a few blocks away. Then we'd have a nice dinner and drive over to Tipitina's. Enjoy the music for a while and head home.

New Orleans for me was the French Quarter. I was in New Orleans to train dealers on pos systems. The best part of the being in New Orleans it was during Mardi Gra.

Hey gonwk. You're sending doc out west because of hurricanes etc... Show some love to one of the regulars. If he goes out west he not only has to deal the granola crowd, but also the monsoons, mudslides, earthquakes, droughts, avalanches, and for now the human poster boy for steroids, Arnold.

If it wasn't cold here as in Illinois I'd say come to NYC. Only thing that you might run into is a plane or 2 going through some buildings. Lol...

New Orleans to me is the whole experience. It's the food, atmosphere, people, architecture, the smells and the sounds. You either love every bit of it or you hate it. I fell in love with it.

Mardi Gras was fun, but it was more fun when my husband was out of town ...

              Hey dr_ml ...

You know the WIVES Rule the roost ... so his wife has taken him off of the Steriods ... you can tell that since he NO longer realizes Which Party he belongs to.

And no way NYC is as nasty as Chicago ... Chicago's Winter Wind is a Bummer!

Wives rule the ROOST? Well I guess there aren't any real men left out there. Someone has to steer the ship and I'm not letting anyone steer mine.

My favorite line is,"Ok. We'll do things your way hun. Keep in mind though that when the bills pile up, and we're in debt, and they want to foreclose our house, and the kids start acting up, you'll be responsible. You want to be the boss, you have to pay the cost."

NYC is cold believe me. Maybe not as cold or w/those killer winds like Chicago, but safer than going out west to come back and find your home under a pile a mud. Oh I forgot to mention the fires also.

                  Gonwk,

You got that right about the Chicago winters. The constant changes in the weather is the worst. My back does not like the changes.

10 years Kabu. You're a true soldier. Are you out on parole now for best behavior? I would of said it was a life sentence if anything higher than 10. Hey, I hope you told him what I told my xxx,"I'm the best thing that came outta your life."

I also did some field service on the east cost. Mainly in Boston, Maine, and NYC-Long Island area. The fish was outstanding. Would like to go back out there with the wife.

Well of course those places are known for great seafood/fish, especially Maine and Boston. I usually stay local so don't frequent long Island much.

1 thing though there's some excellent steak joints over here. Peter Lugers, Old Homestead and Sammy's Roumanian Steak House. Frequented Old Homestead. Peter's and Sammy's are a yet. Sammy's is across the street from me. I think I'm going to treat myself there for my B-Day. Might take a buddy w/me. Those steaks pour over the plates there. Especially the prime rib. I'm swithing this time, I usually get the fillet mignon.

There is a steak place near me called Bogart's, they have a 5 Lb sirloin steak. I always have my medium rare. I know people that have to have the steak very well done. IMHO, that ruins the steak. Oh well the satellite is out, it is pouring again.

Yep medium rare is the way to go. I fiend after some time if I don't get some red meat in me. I sometimes will buy some rare roast beef and chomp on a couple of slices to quench my craving. Horse Radish does wonders on a roast beef sandwich and also some nice potato salad. Hmmm.
