30 GB Zune dies all at Once....

Early this morning there was a widespread issue affecting 2006 model Zune 30GB devices (a large number of which are still actively being used). The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year.

Microsoft has posted a solution to the problem... unplug the Zune and let the battery drain out, wait until noon, GMT, on Jan 1, 2009, then plug it back in. Once the battery has sufficient power, the player should start normally
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

This is now the fourth time I've heard this story... being a Zune user I've been hassled by friends all morning.

I didn't hear about this before today, but I have the 80GB Zune, and nothing like that happened to me. (The article said only the 30GB was affected)

And I do find this hilarious... Microsoft is known for bugs... but the Zune is still a great mp3 player that I like better than iPods...
