MPEG4 file ok, DVD burn ok, movie doesn't play

I think I am missing some critical information in the process. I am using a G4 computer, Mac OS X (and 9.2), I have an Ezquest DVD burner and Quicktime Pro. I am able to created MPEG-4 files, which I believe is the correct format for DVD and am successful in burning a DVD using Discribe software and selecting the DVD mode. However, when I try to play this on a video recorder (which is one that will play from any region) it says 'bad disc'. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks

I rang Apple and they said that MPEG-4 is the upgrade from MPEG-2. The latest version of Quicktime only exports MPEG-4 and not MPEG-2. Is this correct?

I have no idea - I'd suggest that you post your questions at a Mac-specific forum such as the one at 3IVX.com...
