Help me DVD+ burns DVD- error msg

I'M using Nero Burning Rom ver 6.0.0.19 to copy VOB files from the hard-drive as per the instructions say. Everything fits nicely and I can burn 2 a +DVD. I perform the same actions,everything ready and I go to burn on a -DVD and I get a error msg (Failed unable to burn at 2mb) I'm kinda new at this but,I don't understand why I can burn on a +DVD & not on a -DVD? I have a NEC RW ND 1300 it's a + & - burner? Can any1 help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
