    VirtualDub extract wav error

Using virtual dub to extract a wav from an avi file i get this error
anyone know a way round this.

The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format.
Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of
    therequested format.

if i play the video in virtualdub i get the picture but no sound

i am selecting full processing mode and the right conversion/compression
as i have done this before on other movies which were fine.

Is it a codec problem ?

"Is it a codec problem ?"

Most likely. In order to determine which codec(s) you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

    1) Load the file into VirtualDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

The audio (Tag 2000) is indicative of an AC3 audiostream.

        1) VirtualDub cannot process .AC3 audio - use NanDub instead

        2) If not already on your system, download and install (Register with Windows) the .IVIAUDIO.AX .AC3 filter...

            ok

we think we have found a solution

save wave direct stream in virtualdub to get the ac3 file

then use a ac3 to wav program to encode to wave

            Working...
