Menu Problems after burning with Nero 6

I have backed up several of my movies to my hard drive using DVD Shrink. I can play the movies fine from my hard drive. When I use Nero to burn a DVD it messes something up.
The menus no longer seem to work. The movie appears to try to start on my PC using Media Player then just seems to fly thru the menu structure. If I put it in my Standalone DVD player it try's to load it then says no disc found.
I am using a DVD-RW
Any help would be appreciated.

1) If you used the "Re-author" mode of DVD Shrink, the menu is no longer functional (Essentially, it becomes a very short video).

2) Do you know, for a fact, that your standalone DVD player can play DVD-Rs or DVD-R/Ws?
