Small light spots on some discs

Hi. I've noticed that on some backups I make, after a few days I'll watch them back on my PS2 and on the underside of the disc there appears to be some odd small spots that look lighter than the rest of the burned area. Is this a common thing? Or, at least, a relatively benign problem? Or even a problem at all? I'm using Ritek branded G04 DVD-Rs.

Since switching media to these Riteks a few weeks ago, I haven't had a single problem with playback, but just a little concerned about making all these backups if a few months down the line the discs will have somehow degraded and become useless.

I don't want to have to backup my backups, you see

That is odd. If it's not affecting playback I wouldn't worry about it. Just dont get rid of the originals until you are sure.

Damn. Was hoping it was something normal.

Not really sure what to do with it. Since switching to the Ritek dvd-rs, I haven't had a problem playing anything, and my burner's relatively new so I don't imagine that's been worn out. Just got a new pack of Ritek discs, maybe those others were from a weird batch.

Still, guess it's not worth worrying about until any discs stop working, which none of them have, so...
