    Problem burning dvd I get frame freezes

    Well I used dvd shrink to size the main title to what I wanted and it worked fine. If i play the file in power dvd, there's no problems. When I burn the file using nero 6.6.28 the burn seems to work successfully.

    The problem is when I play the disk in my dvd burner or a stand-alone player I get frame freezes and glitches every so often. I'm burning at 8x I believe.

    My computer specs are a 1.4 athlon
    512 MB ram
    geforce 3 video card
    optorite dvdrw dd1205
    Media: Memorex DVD+R 8x discs

    I've recently upgraded the firmware from their site. I downloaded the nero 6.6.3 update and going to install it soon. I will also try to burn at a slower speed. Any more suggestions as to why this is happening??? Thanks in advance.

    "Media: Memorex DVD+R 8x discs"

    To be gentle, Memorex is very poor quality media. Try higher quality media, such as Ritek, Ridata, or Verbatim...

    (You might also try burning at 4X)

      Thanks, I kind of figured since they are the cheapest the may be the crappiest. However I'm watching one of the burns I just did at 4x and 30 minutes into it there's none of the problems I had earlier yet. Thanks for the reply.

        To find out if it is in the burning process or in the playing process you have your problem - do this test;

        Download www.dvdinfopro.com (freeware) insert one of your burned disc and selelct the option "Test your media for CRC read errors" - if you only get green dots you know that your burning is ok and it is the player that causes the problem. If you get any read dots - you know something else.

          Ok, I lowered the burn rate to 4x and it worked fine so far. I've watched almost the entire movie and there seem to be no errors. I guess it may have been a combination of my dvd writer and the poor quality media I had been using.

          I just went out and bought some verbatim disks. I made a copy at 4x but haven't watched it yet.

              I think my problem is fixed from the new ones I have made there seem to be no problems. I just ordered a bunch of the taiyo yuden 8x DVD-R discs. I did some research and people seem to think they are of very high quality. Anyone else have experience with these??
