how can i rip a dual layer and apply a region code?

Hi guys

i have been asked by a company who owns a range of titles to convert their DVD titles (dual layered discs) with a region 2 and set it to region 4 (not open region).

I will be buying the Pioneer A09 in the next few days and want to know how i can rip the discs without compressing it and burning it to a DL with region 4.

Can you advise of what programs i should use or whether one program can do it all.

Check out DVD Decrypter - not at my home machine but I think you can set a region - are you the first person to ever want to? LOL

i did check the posts before i posted and i found many posts relating to changing the region, but i never found any that allowed me to rip, change the reason (not to open region) and burn back to a dual layered disc without recompression

I also have decrypter and looked through the settings to see where a region could be set, but i could not find any, only to rip from a particular region.

a more detailed look on the shrink forum has shown that shrink can apply a region (although people have had problems i have read)... or i could open up the ifo file and edit that.

if i do do one of the above, my biggest feal is how to burn a DL disc given i dont yet own a DL burner. Am i worried about nothing?

I don't think I've seen anyone actually report back that they've written a dual layer media yet! - they are certainly scarce here in UK but DVD Decrypter being a very recent version supports this.
I looked at it last night and there is a menu for selecting region code. I've never heard of anyone selecting the region before ripping so am sure it's for region setting.

You can rip in ISO mode with DVD Decrypter. Then mount the ISO with daemon tools. Open VIDEO_TS.IFO in IfoEdit.

Go to VMGM_MAT and look at byte 0x23. Change it from 253 to 247. Save the IFO in your virtual drive.

That's it. Your virtual drive now contains a region 4 coded ISO. You don't even need to do a Get VTS Sectors.

Load daemon tools. It "mounts" the ISO in a virtual drive. As if the actual files in the ISO were present as files in Windows Explorer.

It's not at all difficult. Try it.
