does anything happen to the disc?

My daughter and son both want to have a copy of the dvd's we have as a family in their rooms. I have the stuff to do it with, but can you tell me will I damage the original disc or leave anything on it to show it has been copied if I do this for them, as they are my discs and I don't want them ruined.
    Thanks

"I have the stuff to do it with"

Kindly elaborate on which "Stuff" you are using.

"but can you tell me will I damage the original disc or leave anything on it to show it has been copied"

    Not likely...

Neither "Shrink" or "Nero" (or any of the applications discussed in these forums) will affect the integrity of your original DVD.
