How do I differentiate b/w avi and divx?

Is there a sure way of differentiating a normal avi qith a divx? I tried playing both files in BSPlayer but they both work.

In order to determine which codec(s) you need (were used to create) for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

1) Load the file into VirtualDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"
