    Why and how, please!

I have two avi files that I can't play in MS Media Player. Unsupported format is he answer I get.
I can open one of them in the Playa without any problems.
What I want to do is convert that file to mpg using TMPGEncoder but again I get the answer unsupported file.
Why is that and how do I get around it.
    The filename is this:
    Monsters.INC.Swe.DVDRip.DivX.avi
Right click and properties says this:
    Width 640 frames
    Hight 368 frames
    Sounds
    01:28:24 hours
    128kbit/s
    MPEG Layer-3
    Video
    25 frames per second
    Speed 134kbit/s

    Please help me out.
I'm using Win XP pro Athlon 1800+ with 1 Gb Ram and Geforce 4

    Thanks in advance

VirtualDub will provide more meaningful information. In order to determine which codec(s) you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

    1) Load the file into VirtualDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box
