cant get Flask or GK to work.

I haven't ripped and encoded any DVD's for a while but ithought I'd do some this weekend.
I've never had any problems before but now I can't get any programs to work.

I used to use Flask with Div X 3.11 but Flask now crashes after about 10% of the way through the job.
Since I've got XP SP1,I thought I'd try Gordian Knot, but every time I try and start the conversion it crashes and the screen freezes and i have to reboot.

Does any one know what's up?

    Thx
    Ludwig

PS I've rencetly upgraded to win Xp SP1 and an XP2100+ with a Geforce 4 Ti 4200

If you get random system crashes durring the encoding, I would suspect hardware stability issues. Could be either CPU-, RAM-, Graphics card- or motherboard overheating. Try less agressive memory timeing settings in the bios (cas latency 3) or perhaps a bit of underclocking.

And of course make sure that the system is properly cooled.

        Thanks khp,

        You were right.
It was becasue my system was overclocked.
I would never have thought it cos it was stable in all other apps, but when I clocked it to default, the encoding in both Flask and Gordian went fine.
        Thanks again.

Ah.. then you were asking for trouble . I have had simmilar experiences with a 750Mhz Duron OC'ed to 1Ghz.

The trick to hard overclocking is water cooling! But that is for another forum
