Video/Audio Non Syn. Using Gknot 0.28

    Hello All.

I'm kind of new to the DVD to Divx world so I did my homework and found out the Gknot 0.28 is the best GUI DVD to Divx application that is out there now. I used the guild that I found on divx-digest.com http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/...rdianknot.html. The guild is very easy to understand and is very precise in all the directions. I have attempted different rips so far. All NTSC DVD's, two of which are widescreen (4:3) and one of which is full screen (16:9). The movies encode great and the quality is exceptionally better then what I have been encoding in (MPEG-1). The Gknot guild was using Divx Pro 5.0.3+ so I decided to stick to the guild and purchased the codec. From what I hear by most people that I have spoken to is that video and audio sync. is a problem that most people face. Well the problem that I have as you may have guest is just that video/audio synchronization.
    - I follow the guild to precisely what they say.
    - Rip DVD ... Fine!
    - Load *.vob's into DVD2AVI ... Fine!
    - to play some of the movie and to look at the status screen ... Fine!
    - Remember the following fields from the status screen "Aspect Ratio", "Video Type", and "Frame Type" ... Fine!
    - Next if "Frame Rate" is 29.970 and the "Video Type" is more than 90% then from the "Video" menu, select "Field Operation">"Forced FILM" ... Fine!
    - Also Make sure the "Color Space" is left as YUV ... Fine!
    - Select audio track and go into Dolby Digital (.ac3) and select "Demux" ... Fine!
    - Then hit to save project and name the *.dv2 and the *.ac3 file ... Fine!
    - Next load *.dv2 in Gknot ... Fine!
    - Select Bitrate tab, then Divx 5 option and select how many CD's you want to fit the entire final video/audio on, I normally choose one 700mb cd ... Fine!
    - Then Interleaving option, leave the "Calculate Frame-Overhead" selected. I then select 1x vbr-mp3, because the guild states that it is a good option ... Fine!
    - Now time to select your bitrate for your mp3. Being that would like to have very good video rather than audio I select no more then 128 kBit/sec ... Fine!
    - I follow the resolution and perform the compatibility test and make sure it's close to 60% ... Fine!
    - Then save & encode ... Fine!
    - Select First Pass and select all the options the guild wants you to select, then second pass select all the Divx Pro options that the guild wants you to select and then go into "Audio 1" and select "MP3, custom Parameters (Expert)", The *.ac3 file that I selected does not state any delay in the file name so therefore I do not input any delay value, I also select all the other options that they want you to select .... Fine!
    - Go back to the Divx5 tab and click on "Add Job to Encode Queue" I get prompted if I would like to start encoding now and I select "Yes" ... Fine!
    - After about 8 to 10 hours the Divx video is complete ... Great!
    - Double click on the video file and it opens up in Windows Media Player and starts to play, the video is great and I'm loving what I just have created.
    - Then about 3 min into the movie while the frames are still playing at an equal rate the audio speeds up and I get the video for the frame and then get the audio 5 seconds later.
    - I have tried using constant audio bitrate rather than variable audio bitrate and joining both the video and audio in nandub and still getting the same thing.
    - My only guess is that my audio's bitrate is too low. I have read somewhere that it is a good idea to have the audio take up between 15% - 20% of the video.
    - I have read through most of the forums on this page and cannot find out what I am doing wrong. I will accept any opinions.
    - Thanks for any replies.
