Divx Problem

Ive recently just gotten more interested in DVD ripping, but I dont know too much about it. I have the NERO VCD program, and I have a few .avi files that I would like to convert to divx. Ive been searching but I havent found any good program for converting avi to divx. Can someone help me out?

Are you sure your .AVI files aren't already DivX-compressed .AVI files?

yes im sure- they havent been compressed yet. Its a 840mb file, and Im basically trying to compress its size so I can fit it all onto a vcd. What is the best way to do this?

You can convert the .avi file into (S)VCD-compliant .mpg files using TMPGEnc. The program has a useful wizard specifically tailored for the creations of these types of files and I recommend that you utilise this feature.
