3.5GB Video File to a 1GB (or something) Video File

    Hi

I have a 3.5GB Video File (*.avi) which is a bunch of other *.avi files appended with VirtualDub 1.5.10.
Now, I want to convert that file to DVD. I need to have a *.m2v file and a *.wav file. With TMPGEnc I open the file with the Project Wizard, Browse and Open the file, Other Settings, and change the Full Screen (keep the original ratio) and then, on the "%" window, step 4 I believe, it says that I will have a 5100MB file.. which won't fit on my DVD. What can I do? I thought about converting the file into a smaller *.avi file.. Divx, Xvid, whatever.. I just don't know how.
Or someone could tell me a direct AVI -> DVD program that automatically does that (re-size) the file, even if it loses quality.

    Anything that helps

    Thanks
    Tiago.

divx/xvid is more compact than mpeg-2/svcd/dvd thus dont be too surprised that filesize is increasing

I don't think there is an answer in there

I just want to reduce the size of the 3.5GB file... I don't mind losing quality.. I just want this dvd

what kind of an answer do you expect when you hardly offer details?

        reduce the bitrate
