Nandub encoding time

I just started to use nandub and I followed Nicky's advice on how to set up all the features. My question is I am encoding the fake avi file I created first by using dvd2avi - vfapi - nandub.

I am using an amd 800mhz and the encoding time for my movie is 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have let the program run for 9 hrs already. What is the deal? Did I screw a setting up, I followed the tutorial even though it was for an older version of nandub.

Please help. This is ridiculus.

Depending on what filters u use, a normal 90min-movie should take no longer than 6h per pass on a 800MHz machine. Download the newest nandub and DivX3.11a or M$MPEG4V2 and don't change any of nandubs settings. Select any bitrate you want and click on "two passes".

Problem fixed!!

I was using Nickey's Guide to encoding with Nandub, however I found another guide on doom9. I used it and my encoding time changed significantly. I think it had to do with adding the 3x3 filter.

I don't know why I added it, I guess a moment of stupidity. Hope the copy turns out good.

The more filters you add, the slower the encoding process generally will go.

For example, my system is capable of going at 17-20fps, with the deinterlacing, cropping & resizing (plus subtitling) filters active. However, when I add Smart Smoother HQ into the list, the process slowed down considerably to a terrible 3-5fps.

In short, try using only the filters you really need and discard what you can still live without.
