I am a newbie to DVD ripping.

I am wanting to know on how to rip DVD's, using a good guide if possible?

I use Nandub for DVD ripping. It gives me the best quality of all others, as you would have read with my other posts.

Rather than elaborating on how to begin and get your final rip, just head over to Doom9's website and you'll find what you need to get started.

Here's a little bit of help from me: http://www.doom9.org/sbc_main.htm

Any further question should only be asked after digesting the article. Good luck.

Different DVDs often give you different problems, as you will find soon enough.

Don't be. You're lucky if you don't find multi-angle DVDs. I simply hate them, especially when you need to get the subtitles.

As a note too, I suggest you don't use Fast-motion for DVD ripping as DVD video contains a lot of details, much more than whatever your capture device is capable of getting. There will be a very noticable decrease in quality compared to if you used low-motion. Trust me. I have used FM before for one DVD rip and everyone ,even the creator (me), agreed that it looked terrible. A reencode using LM yielded the quality I yearned for.

Yeh yeh, I know! I am gonna use low motion for DVD's, don't worry!

Have u seen my sample work? (capturing) in MPEG2?

              72.2MB

              ftp://ftp.imbetterthanyou.com/pub/in...lb-may_way.mpg

convert it to fast motion 6000 bitrate and 75/74 crisp

              Tell me what you think.

              thanks

I'll have a look later. I have only a small internet bandwith and a limited volume at that. Hence, need to be calculative with my 'net spending'.
