    Capturing Mpeg2

I have purchased a Ati TV Wonder VE and I am having difficulty capturing to Mpeg2. I have been able to capture to Avi and Mpeg1 with no problems but when i try and capture to mpeg2 it saves as a .mp2 extension then its unplayable.

In order to playback an MPEG2 file, you'll have to either install a software DVD player (such as WinDVD or PowerDVD) or download and install (and register to Windows) MPEG2 video and audio filters (ivivideo.ax and iviaudio.ax).

How exactly do you download these filters and register them?

You can download them from my site too:

extract it and run the install.bat file

        This should play them back.

personally, I don't like ATI capture cards, the quality is very very poor, both, MPEG1 and MPEG2.

I now got a hauppauge wintv go PCI and capture using these settings and I don't lose quality:

        320*240
        YU12
        25fps
        Cd quality audio
        NO RECOMPRESSION

Then I convert to MPEG2 using TMPGENC then edit it and do 2-3 encodes again in MPEG2, then to DIVX fast motion 6000 bitrate and gives me ace results.

This is my opinion/options any way
