i, uber newb, hates avi

my rockman exe avi won't play one divx,wmp, or realone. im really p-oed and i just want to convert it

From within Explorer, rightclick on the file and select "Properties". Click on the "Details" tab.

Post (here) EVERYTHING listed (video and audio information). This may provide some necessary insight as to what may be required to enable playing of the file.

I'm personally curious - If you make a backup copy of the file and cut off the .avi extender (so that the full name is now "rockman.exe") and doubleclick on the file, does it do anything?
