Hi. Anyone know the best settings for the following in DivX 5?:

    Max Quantizer
    Min Quantizer
    Rc averaging period, frames
    Rc reaction period, frames
Rate control down / up reaction

    Thanks.

For DVD ripping the standard settings should be just fine, for 2-CD rips you might consider lowering the Max Quantizer to 8, but I don't think it will make a much difference,

Well that depends on what kind of resolution you are aming for, and how well the movie compresses.

But usually one first decides how much space to use for a movie (usually 1 or 2 CD's), then you can calculate the bitrate, using any divx4 bitrate calculator (I prefer Gordian Knot).

Then you can decide what kind of resolution to use, here the general rule of thumb is to stay close to 0.2 - 0.25 bit per pixel, GordianKnot will calculate this value for you.
