Find out detail info of a given DivX file

Hi,

I found a DivX movie, love-story, which got a considerable high resolution and realy very good quality/size. I am now interesting about how this can be done. So, from the result DivX, can I know the folloing?

1, the exact version number of the encoder
2, the average bitrate used.
3, the frame rate.

Load the video into virtualdub, select file, the properties.

1. Being very high quality with comparatively small filesize, it is likely to have been done using 2-pass encoding mode. What encoder was used is rather hard to determine, especially if the video has been created using DivX4 or 5. If it was done with 3.11a, you know it was done using the encoder nandub. Otherwise, many other encoders are capable of doing 2-pass encoding with DivX4 or 5, though my bet will fall onto Virtualdub.

2. Get a bitrate calculator. You have the filesize and play length of the video. Input those values into the calculator and you get an estimate for the bitrate used.

3. Virtualdub, WMP6.4, BS Player and many others are capable of displaying the framerate of the video. BS Player would be the easiest one, as it is displayed right on the player interface itself.

i dont know if this works in winxp/2000 below but in xp the eastiest way to check the framerate is to right click and go to properties and the 'summary' tab.

It works for all version of WMP

Sometimes fast motion can be just as good as low motion, depending in the movie. And file size is always low, even in first pass......
