HARDLY any divx will be a good choice for a system like that!

On my P200 I can play divx's with the same resolution as that of a vcd (352xsomething).

a high-res avi, however, on 2 cds will hardly run on sub-700mhz-systems

and in case i'd be willing to go down THAT MUCH with the resolution i'd rather go for an svcd instead.

Yes, you are right. I have to drag down the res to 640x480, and colour to 16 bit to play the 352.

            my pc works on divx

the pc in the original post plays some divx, but not all of them
it is choppy when played, but it does play
i think the older versions of the codec are the way to satisfy an older pc.
but is there anywhere that would brake down the system requirements for the individual forms of divx
