    MPEG Sync Errors in VirtualDub

I've had this happen on two downloads of Simpsons episodes, just after the intro. Playing it back in Media Player is fine, but VD won't play through the point it goes bad, nor save at any point past the intro.

It's not a bad download because I've tried getting it twice to be sure. Is there any way I can cut out the bad parts with a different program? I don't mind if it results in some missing frames in the final DivX.

    Thanks in advance

    (system: VD 1.4.8, Win2k, Athlon 1.4, 512mb DDR)

Update: It seems to be the fact it's an AniVCD rip. I've downloaded several now and all are screwy after the credits - you simply cannot edit it properly.

Does anyone know why these were released like this?

There is no written rules as to whether anyone should release a perfect copy of their rips. I've had my share of terrible episodes too.

I understand that, but *every* anivcd copy is done like this

Maybe it's to stop people converting to DivX.

Yay, FlaskMPEG can get through the bad part without an error

          This thread can be closed

Glad you solved it. Flask indeed still has uses where other programs, like Virtual/nandub, fail (And those are the reasons why Flask still remains in my systems).

p.s. There is no need to close a thread that is useful.
