divx 5.02 & mp3 encoding problem

if i try to convert an DVD using flaskmpeg with divx 5.02 and mp3 (radium codec), the audio (or video, i can't say it exactly) is running out of sync, about 5-10 seconds on 1 hour. I get the same problem when i want to get an already divx movie into a lower size by new encoding with virtualdub. Does anybody know what can be wrong? Another mp3-codec? Please help
