Changing Divx Brightness

What's the easiest way to permanently change a divx's brightness/contrast without decreasing video quality? I know i could send it through virtualdub on full processing mode and put a filter on it and set it to encode to divx again, but it looks like it loses quality. any suggestions?

Permanente changes will always need reencoding. The easier way would be a DivX-player that allows to adjust contrast/brightness.
